With seven colleges and 10 high schools in York, Pennsylvania, there are plenty of young people who may want to enjoy the town's nightlife, even though they're below the legal drinking age of 21. When combined with nearby Harrisburg, there are enough opportunities for York-area teens to go clubbing at least one night a week. If you want to have a good time and stay legal, you'll be able to get your groove on without waiting until your 21st birthday.
Club XS
Club XS (clubxsyork.com) is one of the few clubs where the under-21 and older crowds can mingle, although you'll still be carded, and some swingers' nights might be off limits. This popular nightspot features dancing, karaoke, pool and the best in dance music from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly. Every Thursday night is College Night at Club XS, if you feel more comfortable staying within your age group. Make sure you follow the strictly enforced dress code, or you won't be allowed entry.
Murph's Study Hall
As you might suspect from the name, Murph's Study Hall (murphsstudyhall.com) caters to York college students with cheap drinks and large LCD TVs in every room. The dance floor opens at 10 p.m. and features a live DJ Wednesday through Saturday nights. If you'd rather just chill for a while, chow down on the wings, burgers, sandwiches or other food specials and play foosball, darts or work the pool tables.
Zodiac Dance Club
Zodiac (zodiacdanceclub.com) is in Harrisburg, but it's worth the short trek down the road, as it's the only non-college dance hall specifically geared toward the 15 to 20 age group. The club is open from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., but due to safety issues, once it reaches maximum capacity, it stops admission at the doors. If you do manage to get in, enjoy the soda/juice bar, lounge, video games, pool tables and dance floor with live DJ. The club also hosts regular theme nights, including dance contests and beach parties.
Club Revive
Club Revive (clubrevive.com) isn't a stationary club, but rather one that travels to different venues throughout eastern Pennsylvania as it hosts under-21 dance parties in various clubs. It can also tailor a party for your backyard or any other spot. Club Revive has DJs, lighting effects, contests and themed parties Safety is paramount, and drugs, alcohol, tobacco and vulgar language are prohibited. Prepare to have a good time as long as you're on your best behavior.
